Sarika Patel

Sarika Patel

Veterinarian / Co-owner

Dr. Sarika Patel graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2008. Joining Shaffer Animal Hospital in June 2008, she instantly felt right at home. She enjoys building and nurturing long term relationships with clients and their pets. Her veterinary interests include general surgery, dentistry and cardiology. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys a variety of activities ranging from ballroom dancing to spending quality time with her husband and her cat, Siren, who she rescued after being hit by a car. Dr. Patel looks forward to traveling abroad when she can.

Nicole Gerrish

Veterinarian / Co-owner

Dr. Nicole Gerrish graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, and has been a proud member of Shaffer Animal Hospital’s team ever since. Dr. Gerrish enjoys the variety of cases she sees, but has a special interest in behavior and ophthalmology. She is proud of the relationships she has built with clients who have become like family over the years of working together to care for their pets, and looks forward to continuing to make the hospital experience for patients as low-stress as possible. When she is not in the office, you can probably find her training for a marathon (she has run 26+ of them!), or traveling to hike in the mountains with her husband Steve. She has a sassy tabby cat named Pieces, and the most lovable Great Dane named Cooper.

Molly Jette

Molly Jette

Veterinarian

Dr. Molly Jette graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 and started working at Shaffer Animal Hospital in June 2016. While she enjoys practicing all aspects of veterinary medicine, she has an interest in dermatology and soft tissue surgery. She is also Fear-Free Certified. Fear Free veterinary visits eliminate fear, anxiety, and stress, and create an experience that is better and safer for all involved, including pets, owners, and veterinary health care teams. In her free time, Dr. Jette enjoys playing her favorite sport, which is Ultimate Frisbee. She has a Terrier Mix named Watson and two mischievous cats named Carl and Doug.

Cynthia Thomas

Cynthia Thomas

Veterinarian

Dr. Cynthia Thomas graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. She was employed by the Shaffer’s at their previous clinic and decided to make the transition over to the new clinic. Prior to her veterinary career, Dr. Thomas was an avid flier, scuba diver, and marathon runner. Outside of her work, she enjoys biking various scenic trails throughout Central Florida, spending time with her two dogs, Jill and Lacey, as well as her twin daughters Taylor and Tyler.

Katelyn Jones

Veterinarian

Dr. Katelyn Jones graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Jones worked at Shaffer Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician while obtaining her bachelor’s degree and felt right at home, so much so that she decided to return as a doctor after completing veterinary school. While Dr. Jones is passionate about all aspects of veterinary medicine and seeing a variety of cases, she has special interests in emergency medicine, ophthalmology, internal medicine and she is certified in dentistry. She is also Fear-Free Certified. Fear Free veterinary visits eliminate fear, anxiety, and stress, and create an experience that is better and safer for all involved, including pets, owners, and veterinary health care teams. In her free time, Dr. Jones enjoys attending concerts, visiting amusement parks and spending time with family and friends. She also loves spending time with her animals which include three cats (two of which she happily foster-failed) named Trixy, Taz and Mojo and a ball python named Aerys.
